Description:
Molecular sieve 5A is a kind of alkali-metallic, silicon-aluminum compounds, it could absorb the molecule which critical diameter is not more than 5 angstroms.

Application: 

1. Removal of water, carbon dioxide, and hydrocarbons from feed gas in air pre-purification units;
2. PSA separation for Iso/normal paraffin (n-C4∼n-C6 mixtures);
3. Purification of air, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and synthesis gases from mixed gas streams;
4. Dehydration and purification of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), ammonia cracked gas and other industrial gases or liquids;
5. Dehydration and purification of inert gas.
6. Removing hydrogen sulfide, low molecular weight mercaptan components from Natural Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and avoid COS forming.
7. Applied in PSA hydrogen purification, carbon monoxide refining.

Regeneration:
Molecular sieve Type 5A can be regenerated by either heating in the case of thermal swing processes; or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing processes. 
To remove moisture from a 5A molecular sieve, a temperature of 250-300°C is required. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can give moisture dew points below -100°C, or mercaptan or CO2 levels below 2 ppmv.
The outlet concentrations on a pressure swing process will depend on the gas present, and on the conditions of the process.
